Since I switched to DDG, I've noticed Google has gone down hill significantly.

That's why, it's because YOU switched.

No reason to keep it good, I guess, lol.

They likely won't use Youtube or Youtube Kids... They already watch that on iPads and a laptop.. so they truely don't need yet another device to YT on ..

They also don't need Netflix - again.. on other devices and we want to be able to control some of what they get to.

Besides controlling what they can download from Google Play store, I would just worry about blocking websites. Either stick with blocking mature sites or only allow certain sites.

I’ve only witnessed that with Firefox on Gnome3 Wayland and xorg.

Chrome is easy to install but isn't included in Fedora. Here is the quick and effective way to do it.

      WTF?

      sudo dnf install -y https://dl.google.com/linux/direct/google-chrome-stable_current_x86_64.rpm

That doesn't include the repo so it can easily update via dnf does it? Although chrome generally updated by itself so you may not need that functionality.

      [jbusch@dt-jared ~]$ ls /etc/yum.repos.d/ fedora-cisco-openh264.repo fedora-updates-testing.repo rpmfusion-free.repo slack.repo fedora.repo google-chrome.repo rpmfusion-free-updates.repo vscode.repo fedora-updates.repo rpmfusion-free-rawhide.repo rpmfusion-free-updates-testing.repo zerotier.repo [jbusch@dt-jared ~]$ cat /etc/yum.repos.d/google-chrome.repo [google-chrome] name=google-chrome baseurl=http://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/rpm/stable/x86_64 enabled=1 gpgcheck=1 gpgkey=https://dl.google.com/linux/linux_signing_key.pub [jbusch@dt-jared ~]$

Ah okay, looks like it does.

Found this on Googles Support site:

      Force browser processes to close

Chrome uses a "multiple processes architecture", which means its processes are designed to work independent of one another. So issues in one tab shouldn’t affect the performance of other tabs or the overall responsiveness of the browser.

What happens when one process keeps the others from working or closing Chrome completely?

I use chromium based browsers rather than chrome itself which had ties into google (and isn't open source I believe).

How would you compare the two?

It's the same just without the Google Bits and you have to install the NPAPI version of flash rather than use a built-in one as you have to have a special distribution license for Flash and Reader (IT Departments even need to request a free one and keep it on file to install flash or reader on their computers).

You can turn any website into an "app button" on your iPhone too so you don't need to open a browser or navigate. Pretty handy for a few sites, like this one, that I go to constantly.

that's a nice french word, maybe that's why.

It's a French origin, but so is resume. It's a word in English for a very long time.

all true but maybe they have a cutoff somewhere before it is recognized. I am just guessing though.

I think that they remain pretty tough for developers still too. Although a more traditional Linux desktop will be great for that. Mint, OpenSuse or Fedora make awesome development workstations.
